Volunteer of the Month - May 2023

Jen Kuse, who has been attending NEC for 11 years and the Franklin Food Pantry for 8 years, was nominated by Joy Moon, our Kids Zone director -

Jen's passion for landscaping, gardening, and making an impact on the community have enriched the outdoor space at NEC. Not only is she the Coordinator of the Franklin Food Pantry Garden Project, but she has spearheaded NEC's efforts to start our own veggie garden behind the building. Because of her support, we were able to donate approximately 70 pounds of fresh produce to the Franklin Food Pantry just last year! Jen heart to serve and give is so big that she will often anonymously water, weed, and tend to the plants and landscape around the building, as she is passionate about making NEC a beautiful and comfortable place for everyone to enjoy. Thank you, Jen, for sharing your skills and love for nature with us!

What's her favorite part of being a volunteer?

My favorite part of the Franklin Food Pantry Veggie Garden Project is working in the gardens. I equally enjoy discussing with people how the Pantry and its community help people with food insecurity, and encouraging/helping them to grow and eat organic.

Thanks Jen, we appreciate you!!!
